What's inspiring our SS22 mood

Spring is in the air and excitement is building as our brands deliver their SS22 collections. Learn more about what's inspired our selection this season.

Wondering what to expect from our brands this spring-summer? We say it every season, but you're going to love what's in store.

While we stock many different sustainable labels, it's always important to us that their collections complement each other. Whether it's similar shapes and colour palettes or a shared source of inspiration, our brands often overlap in their vision. And this, we think, is how great outfits are made.

Read on for the main themes we're seeing as spring newness steadily fills our rails.

Earthy, easy Mediterranean style

We're just about ready to be transported somewhere balmy, bright and accommodating of breathable cotton blouses and floaty dresses. Skall Studio SS22 takes us there. The Danish design studio channels the slow way of living in Southern Europe, combining natural tones and organic fabrics with loose, breezy silhouettes.

Shades of the same earthy neutrals can be seen in Thinking Mu's offering, along with the relaxed shapes and classic design details. Plus, there's a new brand incoming that brings all these elements together to create the ultimate summer capsule — more on this soon.

Art-inspired palettes

More into saturated styling? In amongst the neutrals, bright, impactful tones promise to lift our spirits in collections from Kowtow and Thinking Mu. Muted versions of primary colours – pale pinks, sage greens, sky blues – are popular choices this season, and will only be more welcomed as the weather warms and the sun comes out.

For Skall Studio, 2022's palette is inspired by American artist Cy Twombly, whose expressive line paintings capture a free, uplifting mood. Twombly too was fascinated by the slow pace and relaxed nature of Mediterranean living.

'90s-infused simplicity

The nineties called, and we picked up. Brands this season are throwing it back, but in a subtle fashion. Nudie Jeans' lookbook features double denim looks that might've been rocked by Rachel Greene, while Skall cites 'nineties simplicity' as a dual source of inspiration.

As always, Wax London delivers plaid shirting that wouldn't look out of place in another era. But the designs are kept contemporary with fresh colour pairings and clever detailing. The most 2022 thing of all? Using exclusively eco-friendly materials like organic cotton and recycled polyester and biodegradable corozo nut buttons. The best of the '90s with a modern mentality.
