Give the gift of choice

Our new gift cards have been created with the planet in mind. Here’s how we did it, and how you can get one.

After months of designing, selecting materials and coordinating with our talented friends at Meraki Concept Studio, last week we held our new gift cards for the first time — and it felt like Christmas morning.

This one has been in the works for a while. Until this point we’ve only offered digital gift cards, a great fuss-free solution for online that can be sent anywhere in the the world (ideal for those last-minute gift givers!). We've always wanted to introduce a physical card that you can purchase in store, but it was a matter of getting all the elements just right.

Careful thought and consideration went into the final product, making sure it was realised sustainably and responsibly. But getting there was also a lot of fun. From finding just the right neutral tones to selecting eco-friendly paper with innovative origin stories, the process was exciting. And the result is even more so.

The look

We wanted the final gift cards to show that even simple things can feel special, and knew they should be an extension of the store experience. The curved top corner of the wallet mimics the fluid shapes within our Stockbridge flagship in a subtle, minimal way.

The design team at Meraki worked with us to select the perfect palette. We decided on black as a sophisticated, premium, slightly unexpected option for the wallet, with off-white lettering to keep the messaging clean and readable. Our signature terracotta has made it onto the gift card, so it’ll stand out if you decide to slide it out and tuck it into your purse.

The feel

In our eyes, selecting a sustainable paper for the gift card wallet was the most important step. Meraki presented us with a forest of inspiring options; sheets derived from used coffee cups, recycled denim, and paper with natural textures like sand.

In the end we settled on the Extract range from paper merchants G.F Smith. The product is created using 90% of the waste from disposable paper coffee cups destined for landfill, with the leftover 10% (plastic) being kept aside and reused for something else. The finish of the stock has a slight texture, again emulating the tactility of the store.

How to buy

Can't remember that special someone's size? Or maybe you want them to pick something they really love. Ask at the till in store, or pick up a digital version here. Not local but want that physical touch? Send us an email or DM and we’ll arrange a gift card to be posted out to you.

How to use

Our gift cards are available for use on our website and in store, with no expiry date so you can shop at ease. Every card comes with its own unique QR code. Hand it over at the till and a staff member will apply it to your purchase, or enter the code at the back of your card at checkout online. Happy spending!
