Started by sisters Julie and Marie Skall, Copenhagen-based Skall Studio who have been championing an environmentally conscious approach to design for ten years. Raised in North Jutland, surrounded by nature, their childhood has had a great influence on their commitment to natural, Danish materials and local craft. The result? Season after season of refined, timeless and effortless designs, built to survive the ever-changing landscape of our closets.
We are proud to be honouring their landmark birthday with a trunk show from the 15th-19th May, and you're invited! On Wednesday 15th May, we'll have the Skall team in store to talk all about their approach to design, alongside refreshments, and an exclusive gift with purchase. Not to mention, we'll be stocking a selection of new-to-treen styles from the brand's classic collection. To start the party, who better to talk all things Skall than the founders themselves?

How and why did you get started with Skall Studio?
We grew up close to the countryside and learned about recycling and to care for the environment, so a sustainable lifestyle comes naturally to us. It is mirrored in our everyday life but also in the way we run our business. We established Skall Studio in 2014 as we felt that is was both natural for us, but also important for the industry, to create a brand that believes that the path to a more sustainable wardrobe starts with timeless design. That is why we choose to offer an alternative to the rapidly changing trends and fast fashion that are creating overproduction and stressful working environments.
What does a normal working day look like for you?
It always starts with a cup of tea. Everyday is different but a casual day at the studio would include designing, reflecting & communication with our dear costumers.
What sets you apart from other brands?
With a vegan lifestyle, no use of animal products in the collections and a general sustainable and conscious approach to design and development, we have created a design universe of effortless, elegant and feminine styles, where quality is never compromised.
As Skall Studio celebrates its 10-year milestone, could you share some exciting goals you're currently pursing and any future collaborations?
At the moment we have a pop-up store in Paris and the goal is to open a permanent store there. So, that is our next step. We also have a new shoe collaboration with Arteana in that launched in April. It's a collection of sandals that are vegan and handmade in Italy by skilled craftsmen, which holds the Skall DNA close - in terms of animal welfare and craftsmanship.
How would you describe the ' Skall Studio' woman in three words?
Classic, conscious, and mindful.
If you had to choose, which are your favourite pieces right now?
Our upcoming Skall x Arteana Sandals Dress dropping in April. From the current collection is has to be the Edgar Shirt in Pale Blue as it is perfect for warm days.

Biggest struggle as a sustainable, ethical, vegan business?
When working within these terms we must accept that we will never be perfect. Everyday we try to do better than yesterday, but there is always something that we can do better.
Reflecting on your brand's impact over the past decade, what role do you see Skall Studio play in shaping the industry moving forward?
We hope to see more focus on natural fibres in the future. In our opinion, a conscious approach to fashion doesn't need to be that complicated.
What in your view is an ideal future for the world's shopping habits?
Shop styles of a better quality which will last longer while having a conscious mindset.
What would you say has been the most significant milestone for your brand?
Well, the first time we saw a woman in the street wearing Skall Studio. In fact, we still get humble and happy when we see someone in the street wearing our clothes. Also, we have a showroom in Paris during Paris Fashion Week, that is a big milestone for us.
How do you plan to celebrate this 10-year milestone?
We plan to celebrate throughout the whole year – and we are hoping to host a dinner at some point for our Skall family and friends. Some of them have been part of the journey from the very beginning, and that means the world to us.
