When it comes to fashion things come and go pretty fast. In a seemingly accelerating industry, we’ve become used to a new drop of stock every week. Scrolling culture on social media has made us hungry for new things to consume at a scary rate. The high street fast fashion model has followed suit, producing inexpensive clothing at a rapid rate in response to the latest trends with little consideration to the impact it might be having. In the past 15 years, global clothing production has doubled to meet demand. It’s a costly growth. To put it bluntly, throwaway clothing is killing our planet. It’s contributing towards climate change, destroying the resources it needs to keep up with ‘demand’ and cutting corners on its treatment of the workers that create each piece.
We started treen to do things differently. A proudly vegan store, making space for ethical brands and bringing positive impact fashion directly to you to make it easier to find the pieces you will love for many years to come. To sidestep the traditional seasonal model and get us all buying less, buying better. Each item we stock has been made with the good of people and planet in mind. No cost cutting production, no underpaid labour, no cheap materials. Just high-quality and long lasting clothes made fairly. We value the journey that each piece has been on, from design to production right through to gaining a well-earned place in your wardrobe.
We’re buying into these brands for the better and we want to help you do the same. For this reason, we’ll be holding a sale but doing it differently. No all stock must go banners here! Just an organic approach to marking pieces down throughout the year; a curated selection of more seasonally appropriate pieces or things we bought a few too many of. We want to give back to you - to help you to invest in pieces you are proud to wear – but without devaluing the incredible clothing our brands have come up with to keep being kind to the planet.
